Searching the collections of the Rijksakademie
Searching the collections of the Rijksakademie gives access to more than 40,000 titles in the library and more than 10,000 objects in the art collection.
The library contains an extensive collection of publications such as artists’ books, monographs, exhibition catalogues, journals as well as a book collection dating back to the 16th century. It follows current artistic and art related developments; for more than 150 years, artists, advisors and team have played a decisive role in building the library, which has taken on an increasingly global perspective over the past half century.
The art collection provides an overview of artistic practice and art education over the past three centuries. A large part of this collection consists of the work and teaching materials of former students, professors, directors and residents. Since 1998, each resident has donated a work of art to the collection upon leaving the Rijksakademie.
Objects range from plaster casts, paintings, drawings, posters, photographs, films to 3D printed objects and digital works, which tell a multitude of stories about the Rijksakademie’s past and present.
The library is open to the public. Check the website for opening hours. The art collection can be visited by appointment.
