The core of Mark Boyle's current work is formed by the studies for and completed parts of a project he calls "journey to the surface of the earth". Put briefly, this journey consist of the random selection of a thousand places on the earth to be visited with a group of collaborators, after which the sensory experiences undergone in these places are to be recorded, one of the most important elements being the observations of the local surface.
