Producing futures : a book on post-cyber-feminisms
-
With the publication Producing Futures - A Book on Post-Cyber-Feminisms , the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst dedicates itself to feminist concerns of the post-internet era. Various technologies and the associated digitization of many, if not all areas of life are so well established that our reality can be defined as a horizon of meaning generated by computer media. While the cyber feminists of the 1990s set their sights on establishing cyberspace as a place of liberation and empowerment through the targeted use of the communication and networking possibilities of the Internet, hope today must be subjected to a critical revision. The newly won freedoms of the World Wide Web go hand in hand with the continued existence of hierarchies and power structures.
