Backstories : the physics experiments behind Stanley Greenberg's "Time Machines"
-
New York-based photographer Stanley Greenberg has long entranced viewers with his stunning black-and-white photographs that provide unparalleled access to objects and places ordinary prople might otherwise never see- from New York's century-old water system to the hidden infrastructure of some of the world's most impressive architectural works. Greenberg turns his lens on the unfailingly strange world of nuclear and particle physics.
The photographs presented by Greenberg in the exhibition "Time Machine" show the apparatus of particle physics
experiments as stunning and intriguing images. Thus, it seemed therefore perfect that Stanley’s exhibition was the project for the science writing class that Janet teaches at MIT. Each student chose a photograph from “Time Machines” that they found inspiring, investigated the “backstory” of the experiment behind the photograph, and wrote an accompanying essay. This booklet contains five of these stories.
