BeschrijvingScattered across the space are small castings - remnants of something easily overlooked. The attention to holes began with another work: bronze rings pushed into plasterboard walls, later stolen. What remained were photographs of the indents - marks of presence made more visible through absence.
When I first entered my studio at Rijks A17, I noticed them everywhere: floors, walls, columns... Traces of anchors that once held something in place. Such marks are routinely erased, filled in, made to disappear - forgotten as soon as their function fades.
What does it mean to erase the memory of what once supported something else?
By casting them in tin and drilling them anew, I repeat the gesture and hold it still.
This is not an act of repair, but one of recognition.
A quiet attention to invisible labor, to the overlooked ornament of use.
