Melanie Dorfer’s art transcends the boundaries of painting limited to the plane. It is characterized by organic forms, intense colors, and a keen attention to material. Most of her works are site specific. They refer to the particular space and its structures such that she integrates given corner configurations and wall edges into her painting, for instance, or allows the image carrier and wall to fuse.
