Strange soil
-
'Strange Soil' presents the ongoing work of artist and Rijksakademie resident Nazif Lopulissa. The project explores the history of his Moluccan-Turkish family and includes a compilation of recent works centered on a traditional weaving method practiced in Indonesia and the Maluku Islands. It also offers a critical reflection on the Moluccan Islands as a former Dutch colony and the current status of the Moluccan Dutch community in the Netherlands. Through this lens, the research addresses a broader political and personal search for belonging, home, and identity.
