distance from here

This book was published on the occasion of the exhibition 'The Distance from Here', held at Jameel Arts Centre, Dubai in 2021 and Hayy Jameel Jeddah, 2022, and was a collaboration between the Art Jameel Collection and Jameel Library. It acts as an extension of the exhibition, providing an alternative space to commission works, and in the process, steer away from the traditional approach of an exhibition catalogue. The book acts as a companion, featuring three new commissions: two essays by artist Nadine Ghandour and writer Mihir Wairkar, and an illustrated essay by Son Ni. Using 'The Distance from Here' as a starting point, the contributors responded to the exhibition, as well the act of exhibition making and collecting.
