Hans Eijkelboom : fotonotities, een selectie uit het fotografisch dagboek / photonotes, a selection from the photographic diary, 5-12-1992 - 30-7-2004
-
For the first time the Dutch visual artist Hans Eijkelboom is showing an extensive selection from his photographic diary, which is unique in its character, extent and regularity. Since 1992 Eijkelboom has spent two hours almost every day making a number of photographs of passers-by on the street or of people at public events. He decides on his subject by stumbling across it, as it were, as things catch his attention for one reason or another. In this way series have been initiated of people with yellow bags, with umbrellas, of men with Rolling Stones shirts or women with baby buggies. With this diary Eijkelboom has systematically built up an extensive and fascinating image archive that provides a cross section over time of how society reveals itself in its everyday appearance.
