Hope is a discipline is an ongoing curatorial research by the cohort of de Appel Curatorial Programme 2023, named after the words of Mariame Kaba, who proposes hope as a practice of communal labor.
The vinyl, carries sounds, traces, and marginalia from the first iteration in Amsterdam and the programme’s aftermath in Cuba. Moving across multiple geographies, it is a sonic archive of the process of building translocal thought partners in the politics of hope, friendship, and solidarity.
