Seth Price : zero bow childreeen

'In my twenties and early thirties I kept a diary of sorts, which took the form of music that I recorded, in my apartment, by myself. At the time I wouldn’t have called it a diary — would have laughed that word out of town — but in hindsight it’s clear that’s what it was: a regular, private, record of my shifting moods and identities, shared with no one, aside from excerpts occasionally revealed to a girlfriend or a few close friends.
It never occurred to me to make it public. That might be a funny way to think about songs and music, but it’s a normal way to think about a diary. I hardly could have shared it, anyway, because I wasn’t in a music scene, and this was well before the era of YouTube, Soundcloud, and Bandcamp. At the end there, in 2003, I started posting songs to MySpace, but to my knowledge no one ever found them. Every once in a while I’d be invited to place a track on a compilation record, and a few times people sought me out to make full-on records or cassettes, which I was happy about, but mostly it was my own dollhouse.'
