Fred Sandback : 16 variationen von 2 horizontalen linien 1973

This book is published to accompany exhibitions at the Kunsthalle Bern and Galerie Heiner Friedrich, Munich, in 1973. The shows comprised sixteen iterations of a two-part sculpture; the book documents, in Sandback’s diagrammatic drawings, all parts of these changing exhibitions. The artist wrote: “There are sixteen aspects of the idea. Each echoes and recalls all the others. The piece is the core of a situation which is always changing. The core piece is always changing too.”
