Whose work is this? : Art and labor from the Haaretz collection
-
The point of departure of the exhibition Whose work is this? is simple, almost self-evident: Every artwork is the result of art work. That is, every work of art is the product of a certain process in which something is produced. Nonindustrial labor entered art work upon the appearance of the readymade. With the advent of conceptual art the adoption of practices drawn from the world of labor assumed serious momemtum.
What unites all the artists of this exhibition is a reexamination of artistic subjectivity in the face of contemporary non-art processes and techniques.
