Four by Three : perpetual precedents

In December 2013 Kunstlicht was invited by P/////AKT to moderate Perpetual Precedents, a series of four solo exhibitions with works by Daniel Vom Keller, Ingmar König, Paul Geelen and Astrid Mingels respectively. Perpetual Precedents unfolded over the span of half a year, starting in January 2014 and ending in July 2014. Kunstlicht, in its capacity of moderator, aspired to provide critical and independent reflections on these different shows, as well as to articulate a discursive framework for the entire exhibition series. We decided to do so by inviting three writers Artun Alaska Arasli, Bart Verbunt, and Marianna Maruyama, who are all artists themselves, to muse on every exhibition in the series. This resulted in different more or less conventional, theoretical and literary perspectives on each show. Moreover, one witnesses a dynamics and development in the four pieces each critic wrote. The final collection of texts are presented in the publication Four by Three.
