Von der Malerei zum Design : Russiche konstruktivistische Kunst der Zwanziger Jahre / From painting to design : Russian Constructivist art of the twenties
-
In Soviet art of the 1920s Constructivism and Suprematism exerted a deep influence on researches into physical and artistic creativity.
The constructive and inventive approach to the problems of the creation of form played a decisive role in the conception of Constructivism. This conception was connected with the Moscow school of Constructivist artists centered around Inkhuk, Vkhutemas and Lef. The conception of Suprematist creation of form was in polemic opposition to Constructivism. If the champions of Constructivism considered the organization of structure to be the basis of the stylistic process, the Suprematists oriented themselves toward the formulation of an artistic system.
A number of strange and incomprehensible things occurred in Russian art in the 1910s and 1920s. A group of artists experimented with form, entered the world of physical objects, focused attention on the artistic potential of technology and created a reserve of media of artistic expression for the new architecture and design.
