Muslimhat : 6th Jakarta International Video Festival 2013

The 2013 edition of the OK Video Festival celebrates the deception of the daily life, both in the technology development in 3rd world country or in the human effort in getting any, in other word being tricky. It’s been since 2003 of this festival whose platform combines exhibitions, discussion, artist talk, fringe program, and awards. Alongside this selected show, the highlight of this year is to show various ways to cheat the technology and it’s culture which followed and support behind it.

Festival OK. Video always brings contextual themes to view, record, and read the extent to which the presence and use of media technology in this video-and social practices that accompany it, in the midst of the current global society changes over the development of information and communication technology today. The themes chosen are a reflection on the social situation of the people of Indonesia in particular, and the global community at large.

Throughout the 6 editions held thus far, the relationships between video art, history, and the broader context of the visual arts in Indonesia and the world will be approached in an encompassing environment in which a polyphony of artists, works of art, art shows, curators, critics, and audiences.

In this year’s event, OK. Video not only presenting video art works, but also a variety of media art artistic approaches, ranging from sound art, performance art, multimedia, and web art. In the main exhibition at the National Gallery of Indonesia, OK. Video is also collaborating with the Japan Foundation for presenting media art works from Japan and Southeast Asia called Media / Art Kitchen.
